Radio Cubitas is located in the town of Sola in the municipality of Sierra de Cubitas, north of the Province of Camagüey.

It was first aired on June 4, 1981, from that moment on it became a sign of company for the town and especially for young people.

It arose as a result of an agreement established with the Ministry of Education (MINED) and the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT), its closest antecedent was the Radio Base Informativa, Tuabaquey of José Martí Higher Pedagogical Institute located in the territory.

The programming of Student Radio Station aired on several schedules according to the characteristics of the schools where study and work were combined in Sierra de Cubitas, to which their emissions were mainly aimed at; their frequency was located at 1460 KHZ of the wave band.

Radio Cubitas  became a recognized place for the training of artistic-technical personnel, so that through the circles of interest of the Radio the students were motivated with the exercise of the radio announcers, program directors, audio technicians and music specialists.

Several awards have been won by Radio Cubitas staff in different editions of Local and National Radio Festivals. Since 1994 this radio station became a Municipal Broadcaster, with a system that develops an intense activity at the time many home radio programs are sent to Radio Cadena Agramonte, its web site as well as  Radio Cubitas´one.
During these years the artists and journalists have participated in other competitive events organized by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) and the Hermanos Saiz Cultural Association  (AHS) obtaining positive results.
At present, our radio station has a total of 35 programs, of which 30 are produced locally, in addition to the spaces of Radio Arte, the Provincial and National newscast.
The programming strip is characterized by a high percentage of live spaces, with a total of 24.

Today, only one founder keeps working at Radio Cubitas, Jorge Ochoa Pantoja, as a programs director with a vast experience and knowledge in this artistic labor.

Objetivos Específicos:

1-Perfeccionar el diseño de la programación radial desde una perspectiva esencialmente cultural que satisfaga los intereses y necesidades informativas, educativas y de entretenimiento de los diferentes públicos.

2- Implementar un sistema de trabajo integrado a la actividad de investigación social en la Emisora que facilite el proceso de retroalimentación entre esta y los diferentes destinatarios con el propósito de elevar la calidad de la política informativa y de la programación así como los nuevos proyectos que conformarán la programación habitual, de verano y de fin de año.

3- Perfeccionar el sistema de monitoreo y escucha de la programación radial a partir de las normas establecidas en el manual de la calidad contribuyendo a alcanzar eficiencia y eficacia de la misma.

4- Garantizar el sistema de transmisión de la Emisora en el caso de desastres naturales y etapas de la guerra, con el objetivo de asegurar el intercambio eficaz y oportuno de la información a los diferentes grupos poblacionales, los puesto de mando y de dirección, las fuerzas y medios que se encuentran cumpliendo misiones u otros objetivos de vital importancia en correspondencia con la situación existente.

5- Perfeccionar el diseño de la programación informativa de la Emisora ampliando su perfil con espacios dedicados a la educación económica, la lucha contra el delito, las ilegalidades y la corrupción y otros temas relacionados con el acontecer diario del territorio y el país.

6- Proyectar la estrategia de capacitación de los profesionales que laboran en la Emisora con la finalidad de habilitar a este personal en las diferentes modalidades de la creación, aportando un talento artístico que fortalezca la calidad de la programación.

7- Contribuir a enriquecer espiritual y culturalmente a la radio audiencia propiciando el disfrute de la música cubana de diferentes géneros y estilos así como secciones, segmentos y espacios que faciliten el conocimiento de temas de interés.

8- Profundizar en el contenido de la programación con el fin de fortalecer los valores morales, éticos y estéticos, formales y culturales en correspondencia con el pensamiento martiano y el concepto de Revolución expuesto por el Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro, influyendo de manera orientadora en la toma de conciencia y que permita modificar conductas, actitudes y puntos de vista en correspondencia con la situación actual del país y el territorio.

Maintain a quality radio programming, which takes into account the priorities of the information policy of the territory, country and the world and the interests of the different recipients from an essentially cultural perspective that meets the educational and entertainment needs, also directed to strengthen ethical, moral and aesthetic values, creatively influencing the conscience of the radio audience.

Specific objectives:

1-To perfect the design of radio programming from an essentially cultural perspective that satisfies the interests and information, educational and entertainment needs of different audiences.

2- Bring about a work system integrated to the social research activity at the radio station that facilitates the feedback process between it and the different recipients with the purpose of raising the quality of the information policy and programming, as well as the new projects that will make up the usual programming and the one to be broadcasted in summer and  Christmas´ times , respectively.

3- Improve the monitoring and listening system of radio programming based on the standards established, contributing to its efficiency and effectiveness.

4- Guarantee the transmission system in case of natural disasters and stages of the war, with the objective of ensuring the effective and timely exchange of information to the different population groups, the command and management post, the forces and means that are fulfilling missions or other objectives of vital importance in correspondence with the existing situation.

5- Improve the design of the news program by expanding its profile to economic education, the fight against crime, illegalities and corruption and other issues related to the daily events of the territory and the country.

6- Project the training strategy of the professionals in order to enable them in the different forms of creation, providing artistic talent that strengthens the quality of programming.

7- Contribute to the spiritual and cultural enrichment of the radio audience, promoting the enjoyment of Cuban music of different genres and styles, as well as sections, segments and programs that facilitate the knowledge of topics of the people interest.

8- Deepen the content of the programs in order to strengthen the moral, ethical and aesthetic, formal and cultural values in correspondence with the Marti’s thought and the concept of Revolution exposed by the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, influencing in a guiding way in the awareness and that allows modifying behaviors and attitudes in correspondence with the current situation of the country and the territory.

Actualmente el horario de transmisión se extiende de 7:00 de la mañana a 9:00 de la noche, con una programación variada que incluye dramatizados, programas destinados al público infantil y juvenil, revistas de variedades, informativas y de facilitación social y espacios destinados a la difusión de música latinoamericana y caribeña, mexicana y de concierto.

La tira de programación incluye boletines informativos y un noticiero titulado El Reportero, además de un programa de participación ciudadana que sale al aire cada 15 días con temas de interés económico, político y social, titulado Frente a Frente.

El colectivo de realizadores lo integran un total de 33 trabajadores, de ellos, 2 periodistas, 5 directores de programa, 1 guionista, 5 locutores y 3 técnicos de audio, a los que se le suma el personal de apoyo y de servicio.

Collective Radio Cubitas.Radio Cubitas was founded on June 4th, 198. At the moment, the transmission schedule extends from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a varied program that includes dramatized, programs designed to the infantile and juvenile public, variety, informative and social facilitation magazines and other radio programs intended to the diffusion of Latin American and Caribbean, Mexican and concert music.

The programming strip includes newsletters and a local radio-news entitled El Reportero.

The group of employees consists of 40 workers, 4 journalists, 7 program directors, 15 scriptwriters, 5 radio announcers and 6 audio technicians, to whom the support and service staff is added.
