Giant Copy of Fidel Castro's Cap in Route from Argentina to Cuba

Photo: Cadenagramonte.Photo: Cadenagramonte.Buenos Aires, Nov 20.- A copy of the emblematic olive green cap worn by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, built in metal and weighing 30 kilos, departed today from the Buenos Aires International Airport to Havana. Argentine hands carved this work, led by the Association of Cuban Residents in this country (URCA) supported by the Argentine Movement of Solidarity with the island (MasCuba), to pay tribute to the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban people, as marking the first anniversary of his death, on November 25.

The giant cap, about one and a half meters long and 50 centimeters high, was built in sheet metal with the help of workers from Carmen de Areco, the head town of the homonymous party based in the province of Buenos Aires. They donated the materials and put all their love for this project.

MasCuba member, Alberto Mas, told Prensa Latina that this initiative emerged thanks to URCA and a group of people in solidarity with the Caribbean nation, a dream that is materialized today.

The idea is to participate with the cap during the traditional International Labor Day parade, on May 1, in Havana and later to carry out a caravan with it from Havana to the Santa Ifigenia cemetery, in Santiago de Cuba, he said.

Any tribute we make to the Commander will always be very little, a token. He is still alive today, he is present with his ideas and thoughts, not only in Cuba, but also in Latin America, we are Fidel, emphasized Mas, adding that everything they do is for the island, its people, the Revolution and its historical leader.
