Protected areas in the sights of an international convention in Cuba

Photo: PLHavana, June 3 .- The international commitments of 2020 to 2030 for the attention to the protected areas of Latin America and the Caribbean will be exposed today during the XII International Convention on Environment and Development.
On the third day of the meeting will also discuss the challenges of public communication in Cuba and its implications on the environment, as well as know the mechanisms to connect conservation and sustainable development.
The environmental degradation, which continues in an indefinable way, drought, deforestation, the use of practices that are not friendly to the environment and the nine million plastics that pass from land to sea with great impact on many marine species, are topics discussion at the event.
Experts on these topics from more than 50 nations will be able to present their views on how human actions are a trigger for climate change and the increase of extreme weather events.
For the integration and cooperation for sustainability, is the theme of the convention, which includes six congresses: Management of biodiversity; Environmental management and protected areas. Environmental education, politics and law as well as climate change.
At the same time, six other symposiums are held, such as those on Earth Sciences and Disaster Risk Management, and a trade fair takes place in which more than 20 entities show their work friendly to the environment. (PL)
