The traditional caravan Pastors for Peace is the number 30 that visits Cuba, and for the most part they have made an aside to visit the sculptural complex Ernesto Che Guevara in the city of Santa Clara, capital of the province of Villa Clara.
Made up of women and men of solidarity from the States of New York, Washington and Chicago, the caravan laid a wreath on Tuesday in front of the niches of the 39 internationalist fighters killed in 1967 in the Latin American guerrilla of Bolivia.
The executive director of the foundation, Gail Walker, daughter of the late Reverend Lucius Walker, precursor of these caravans, told Prensa Latina today that visiting this sublime and historic site comes to the memory of her father, who was one of the great admirers of Che Guevara for his constant solidarity with the peoples.
He also highlighted the friendship of his father with the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, promoter of these solidarity trips to the island since 1992.
"Fidel Castro welcomed us and talked animatedly with my father, Lucius, and the other caravans, who had him as an example of intelligence, kindness and simplicity," he said.
Gail revealed that his father was one of the great fighters to eliminate the economic blockade of the United States against Cuba, which with the government of Donald Trump, has intensified.
He considered the blockade of the United States Government immoral, and showed his solidarity with the people of Cuba, which he admires, he said, for the stoicism and dignity with which he faces this economic siege.
He indicated that the main purpose of the caravan is to maintain friendship with the people of Cuba, and continue to remember the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, who was linked by human bonds and solidarity with the Pastors for Peace.
The caravan Pastors for Peace arrived in Santa Clara from the Cuban province of Cienfuegos, a province they traveled for two days, and in the afternoon they returned to Havana to continue their solidarity. (Cadenagramonte)
