One of the coordinators of the initiative, Malcolm Sacks, has told the press that the demand for the cessation of the blockade against Cuba will focus the activities of the brigade members, at a time when the US government has intensified the genocidal policy.
The 50 contingent is made up of 164 members from different states, who will carry out agricultural work, learn about socioeconomic aspects of Cuban current affairs and will visit labor and cultural centers in the provinces of Havana, Artemisa, Camaguey, Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo.
According to the website of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), on August 13, the day of Fidel's birthday, he will be paid homage at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery, in Santiago de Cuba, a day preceded on the night of 12 attending a cultural evening.
Sacks added that for brigade members, contact with Cubans, talking and exchanging with them, knowing their reality and then coming back, telling everyone in the communities, schools, jobs, churches, through social networks, is very important. to the family, so many people know the truth about the Island.
The Venceremos Brigade emerged in 1969, composed of young progressive Americans who expressed their support for the Cuban Revolution and resounding rejection of the US blockade. Since then its members travel to the Island in frank challenge to the travel restrictions imposed by the White House. (ACN)
