Photo: ACNHavana, July 24.- Cuba reiterated today that there is still no reason to support the closure of consular services, the expulsion of Cuban diplomats from Washington, deceptive passenger alerts and all unjust measures from the United States under the pretext of that their officials are in danger in Havana.
Johana Tablada, deputy director of the United States of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressed that these measures have had a high humanitarian cost in the Cuban population, forced to travel without guarantees to third countries to obtain a visa and many sectors of the United States are also affected.
The diplomat referred to an article published today by JAMA magazine, which was carried out by the same group of researchers from the University of Pennsylvania who, at the request of the US government, last year undertook a study of US diplomats based in Havana who reported health incidents.
By saying of the ambassador in this article the authors themselves recognize that the changes detected are minimal, their conclusions are uncertain and cannot detect their causes.
The US and Cuban specialized agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Directorate of Criminal and Criminal Investigation, agreed in their conclusions that there is no evidence of any kind of attack or act against diplomats in Havana.
However, Tablada added, John Bolton, security adviser to the administration of Donald Trump, and the State Department, in their public documents, have maintained the irresponsible use of the term attack, when they know that there has been no deliberate act against their diplomats in Cuba.
All the politics of hostility and the most recent measures of aggression against Cuba are mounted on the lie to fulfill perverse political and domination purposes, the official added.
Cuba asks the US government to put an end to the manipulation and use of this issue as a pretext to impose more and more new measures of aggression against the integrity of the Greater Antilles, its economy and its people.
Of what there is evidence is that Cuba is a safe country for US diplomats and any country, as it is for Cuban citizens, for foreign residents and for the millions of travelers from all over the world who visit the archipelago every year. , added the diplomat.
He also reiterated that the largest of the Antilles remains willing to develop a respectful dialogue to cooperate in this and other issues of benefit to both peoples.
In February 2017, the United States announced the existence of incidents against its delegation in Havana, to which Canada later joined.
The Cuban government collaborated with its US counterpart to facilitate access by specialized agencies to develop field investigations, although this cooperation was not paid.
Although there has been no evidence of any kind that explains the reported health incidents, the issue has been manipulated and used as a pretext to justify aggressive measures against Cuba, including the almost total closure of its embassy and the decline in relations between both countries. (ACN)
