Work continues for the 500th anniversary of Havana

Photo: TrabajadoresHavana, July 29. - The first secretary of the Party in Havana, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, and Reinaldo García Zapata, president of the Provincial Assembly of Popular Power, made tours of the capital for the inauguration and control of various works, dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Wonder City.
They visited different establishments of the municipality of Centro Habana, one of the largest commercial life of the city. Among these spaces, the areas of Chinatown and San Rafael Boulevard stood out.
The Chinatown of Havana faces a process of deep renovation in Cuchillo Street, the fundamental core of its commercial and cultural activities. Torres Iríbar found the recovery actions there, with different levels of progress among the establishments.
Luis Carlos Góngora Domínguez, vice president of the Council of the Provincial Administration of Havana commented that the works consist of remodeling the pavement and premises. Some of these spaces will allow the creation of new establishments.
The remodeling of the interiors of the premises is the responsibility of their administrations. Torres Iríbar recognized the effort made by the various groups, while stressing the importance of maintaining Chinese cuisine in the neighborhood.
In this regard, Carlos Alay Jo, administrator of the Tong Po Lang restaurant, which offers Chinese and international food, said that his restaurant rescues the culinary traditions of that country, especially that of the South Asian giant. The repair began in mid-2018, and its good image is already appreciated.
Among the new proposals, the San Fan Kong Square stands out, a name in homage to a syncretic deity of the Cuban Chinese. According to Teresa María Li, director of the House of Chinese Arts and Traditions, this will be multipurpose and will have commercial areas and spaces for different artistic activities.
The leaders also visited the recently opened Cafeteria La Caleta, which will offer different gastronomic services, such as breakfast and lunch, although the specialty of the place is hamburgers. The capitalists can find it in Gervasio street, between San Lázaro and Malecón.
Alfonso Muñoz Chang, general director of the Provincial Lodging Company of Havana declared that the entity has a reserved space with capacity for 16 people, and in the outer area 40 capacities.
On the other hand, the Kafé Album, belonging to the Casa de la Música of Centro Habana, also opened its doors on June 27. In homage to the anniversary of the capital, it offers its customers Café Habana Five hundred and various products of the EGREM Music Recording Company. (Trabajadores)
