Cuban ambassador to the Bahamas confirms her country’s willingness to contribute to post-Dorian recovery efforts

Photo: RHCNassau, September 6.- Cuban Ambassador to the Bahamas, Ismara Vargas, ratified her country’s solidarity with the people and government of the hurricane-stricken Caribbean state.
In statements to Prensa Latina, Ambassador Vargas stressed that the more than 60 Cuban collaborators in the Bahamas, mostly health professionals, are in good health, and ready and willing to assist the affected population.
Regarding the Cubans on Abaco and Gran Bahamas islands --the hardest hit by Dorian-- the Cuban diplomat said that they have been in permanent communication and working with local authorities.
Previously, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and the country’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed their condolences and Cuba’s readiness and willingness to cooperate in mitigating the damage.
The passage through the Bahamas of Hurricane Dorian, the strongest hurricane ever registered in the Atlantic Ocean, has so far caused the deaths of 23 people, including an eight-year-old boy.
Other governments that have expressed their condolences and solidarity with the Bahamanian people and government include Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, France and Haiti. (RHC)
