Photo: Cadenagramonte.Havana, Nov 11 .- The Cuban capital will host the 2nd edition of the International Forum of First Line Music from November 27 to 30, an appointment that has confirmed the attendance of 50 foreign delegates, announced the organizers.
The event, based this year at the Cultural Plaza of 31 and 2, maintains its original goal of showing the world the potential of the island's music and encouraging the hiring of artists, the commercial vice president of the Cuban Institute said at a press conference. of Music (ICM), Alejandro Gumá.
To achieve this goal, the organizers of the event organized concerts of exhibitions in which, for 45 minutes, previously selected artists will show their work to the attending delegates.
The choice responds to the criterion of variety within Cuban music, hence a broad generic spectrum is represented with highlight for popular sounds, jazz, trova and concert.
The stage of the Cultural Plaza of 31 and 2 will include, among others, the pianist Emilio Morales, the Young Jazz Band directed by the maestro Joaquín Betancourt, the septet Ecos del Tivolí, the singer Idania Valdés, Alain Daniel and his group, the Orchestra of the Havana Chamber, and the soprano Bárbara Llanes.
The program is completed by a theoretical event with conferences, workshops and discussions around the music industry and its position in the world, with a highlight for the Cuba panel, La Isla de la Música, coordinated by the Center for Research and Development of Cuban Music, said the director of that institution, Laura Vilar.
Disc and book presentations are also planned, along with the business tables and small work meetings; visits to recording studios, music conservatories, records of the record companies and other cultural centers.
The International Forum of First Line Music, attended by a hundred national delegates, is organized by the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, the ICM, the EGREM and BisMusic record labels of ARTEX.
It also has the sponsorship of the International Music Fair Womex (World Music Expo), and the company Endirecto, which works since 2015 in the organization of the meeting. (Cadenagramonte)
