Cuba honors Celia Sánchez Manduley

Photo: CadenagramonteHavana, Jan 11.- Cuba's working class will pay tribute to the heroine of the Sierra and the plains, Celia Sánchez Manduley, on the 38th anniversary of her death.
Staff at workplaces that bear her name, or where she played an important role after the triumph of the Revolution, will remember the first woman to join the ranks of the Rebel Army in the Sierra Maestra.
Many construction workers are proud to have made a reality of her dreams in projects like Lenin Park, the Coppelia ice cream palace, the Botanical Garden, and Havana's International Conference Center.
The trade union movement and its affiliates will recall and honor her work alongside Fidel and Frank País, with whom she organized the rural population to support and aid the Granma expeditionaries after their landing in the Manzanillo region. (Cadenagramonte)
