Tamira Gonzalez Jimenez, director of the Culture Sector, reported that "The Tinajón" remains the space that brings together the greater the amount of artists from the patio, so it becomes opportunity for promotion.
The event, in which takes part all cultural institutions of the city, will have its headquarters in the central Avenue of Freedom, which will host most of the activities, programmed in 16 recreational areas.
Designed from the original idea of the Camagüey´s musician Adalberto Álvarez, El Caballero del Son, the festival will not count this year with the presence of the popular artist, who meets international commitments, said the directive.
On this occasion, the interpreter Tania Pantoja, the actor Barbaro Marin and the comedians Leonardo Santiesteban "Maracas", and Rewel Remedios, known for his character of Lindoro Incapaz will attend.
This edition will be officially opened on day 21 with a gala in the main theater of the city, at 9:00 at night.
The Theoretical Event of the appointment, dedicated to the Camagüey´s group Maravilla de Florida, is sponsored by the Center for Culture, and will meet at the headquarters of the agramontina subsidiary of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, the days 22 and 23.
In the early hours of the morning of the same day 23 - explained Gonzalez Jimenez- a special tribute to the Camagüey´s writer Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda, for the 204 anniversary of her birth, before the statue erected in her honor in the street that takes her name in this capital, will occur.
The celebration, which praises the popular music, will have the performance of professional artists, art instructors and amateur artists, the Cuban Fund of Cultural Property and the creators of the Hermanos Saíz Association and associations of Craft Artists.
To dignify local traditions and identity of this half millennial city becomes the main challenge for the Feast of the Tinajón, an opportunity that must transcend the status of mere celebration to become a true encounter of the Camagüey´s citizens with their culture. (Cadenagramonte)
