Ballet of Camagüey Returns to the Scene

Photo: Cadenagramonte.Camagüey, Apr 10.- After its 50th anniversary, the Ballet of Camagüey (BC) is currently preparing new presentations in this city to the center-east of Cuba on April 27, 28 and 29 to commemorate International Dance Day.
The talent of the newcomers will have the role in various functions, which will be held in important areas of this city, such as the Main Theater, located in the area declared by UNESCO in 2008 Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
In exclusive with Prensa Latina, the director of the Cuba's second most important institution, Regina Balaguer expressed that for this year the various national tours turn out a priority 'so that the Cuban public knows the work of the institution ', she pointed out.
The BC will move to the east of the country in the provinces of Guantanamo, Holguin, Santiago de Cuba, as well as Havana, in the west, to show an extensive repertoire of over a hundred works, which defends the classic, romantic, neoclassical and contemporary styles.
In the months of January and February of the current course, the institution was presented in several cities in Switzerland and Spain with the acceptance of a knowledgeable public of a company founded by the dance teacher Vicentina de la Torre in 1967.
To the challenge of overcoming previous artistic proposals, Balaguer explained that 'the public wants to see new works and that is our job: to move forward with the times, promote different creations without losing the aesthetic principles and precepts of the Cuban ballet school'. (Cadenagramonte)
