Photo: PLRome, Mar 31.- Writing the rumba: an anthropological and literary approach to provide evidence of Cuba''s folklore is the central theme today of the third day of the fifth international forum organized by the Timbalaye Project.
The president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) and of Fernando Ortiz Foundation, Miguel Barnet, and Professor Antonio Colajanni make up the panel that will approach the proposal as social construction, in which 'stories and anecdotes constitute a reservation of resources to understand and explain folklore.
In this process, as the program of the event indicates, it is necessary to return to the folkloric fact, review their experiences, study them and analyze them reflexively.
During the activity, which will be held at the University of Rome La Sapienza, the journalist and vice president of Uneac, Pedro de La Hoz, will present the magazine Catauro and the third edition of the one published by Timbalaye, whose president, Ulises Mora, will speak about the 10th International Festival 'La ruta de la rumba'.
The forum was moved the day before to the northern city of Genoa, where, with the participation of local authorities, he paid tribute to Don Fernando Ortiz, a leading figure of Cuban anthropology and social sciences.
After placing a wreath at the foot of a plaque located in the small square that bears the name of the eminent Antillean scientist, Barnet gave a lecture on 'Cubanidad y cubanía', with a deeper vision of what are the values that nourish the Cuban cultural identity. (PL)
