Under the title ‘I am! Who? El rey del Mambo(The Mambo King): Perez Prado', the expo exhibits a good part of his musical career in Mexico with photographs, album covers, advertising posters of the films in which he participated, scenes from the films and even his birth certificate, dated December 11, 1917, in Matanzas, Cuba, where he was born.
There is also the sculpture San Damaso, created in 2009 and a scapular with an effigy and the prayer: The King of Mambo/San Damaso/Give us your protection...'.
The Fonoteca Nacional will be the stage for discussions about the Caribbean musician, who is also considered here a Mexican.
In April, the show Yo soy el rey Del Mambo (I am the Mambo King) by Cuban director Ulises Rodriguez Febles was presented here at the Teatro de la Ciudad (City Theater) Esperanza Iris. The show was performed with classics such as Mambo No. 5, What a nice Mambo! and The roulette player. (Cadenagramonte)
