Photo: Cadenagramonte.Havana, June 1^st. - Dr. Carlos Alberto Martínez Blanco, the director of the university hospital General Calixto García, informed today that one has managed to support a suitable and progressive answer to the treatment of Mailén Díaz Almaguer, survivor of the accident of aviation happened last May 18 in this capital.

The 19-year-old age young woman is supported in a critical stage of her evolution, at the risk of complications, but her stability is supported.

Martínez Blanco added that they continue with the treatment strategy from the answer to the actions realized in mail with the priorities for this type of patient:

First, to save the life, what means to preserve the vital functions, from the opportune and prudent collision of the injuries and his complications, which not only can happen in the immediate period to the catastrophe, but in the mediate period, that is to say some days later, as well as in the late period.

Second, to achieve the balance in the functioning of the organic systems (homeostasis) by means of the restitution of the functions up to where it is possible, what is very related to the constant evaluation of his evolutionary state to do in every moment what corresponds.

Third, the treatment of the aftermath that stay as a result of the severity of the produced organic damage.

Quarter, the early rehabilitation of those functions that this way allow it.

This strategy has allowed to achieve stability of his respiratory system. In these moments, we have achieved periods of time in which he breathes without the help of the mechanical respirator.

On the fourteenth day of her evolution, her cardiovascular system also stays stable with the medicines support to very low doses, like guarantee of the interventions that systematically are realized on the injuries and his consequences.

The metabolic control and water balance is supported and of the electrolytes in blood and it is in frank process of rearranging of the internal way. He tolerates the feeding for intravenous route and for the digestive pipe.

From the neurological point of view it supports a good conscience level, communicates with the medical equipment and his relatives, proves to be cooperative to the treatment and the psychological support is done for the improvement of the cognitive and affective sphere.

Nevertheless, considering the severity of the injuries, his consequences and the mechanism of production of the damages is still supported in a critical stage of his evolution at the risk of complications. There exists a stability supported with answer favorable to the treatment.

The multidisciplinary team keeps on working intensely and of dynamic form, there join new specialists of high scientific level for his integral handling as the clinical evolution of the patient like that allows it, for which one is provided with the necessary resources.
