Cuba, Vietnam Strengthen Political, Economic Relations

Photo: ArchiveHavana, Jun 6.- Cuba and Vietnam reinforce their relations with the official visit to the island of the member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party Nguyen Thanh Phong, received today by the Vice President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas.
The Deputy Secretary of the Party and President of the Popular Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and Cabrisas discussed the objective of strengthening bilateral ties in the political and governmental spheres, particularly economic-commercial ones.
During the meeting, the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Planning highlighted the ties that unite Cuba and Vietnam, which he described as historical and special.
He also explained to the senior Vietnamese official the progress of the economic and social update driven by Cuba, the composition of the newly installed National Assembly of People's Power and the establishment of a commission to draft the proposal for a new Constitution.
Nguyen Thanh Phong arrived in this capital accompanied by a large delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam, the government and businessmen. (PL)
