Cuba, Saint Vincent Renew Medical Cooperation Bases

Photo: PLHavana, Jun 8.- The governments of Cuba and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are working today to renew the bases of medical cooperation, after almost two decades of successful collaboration in that island nation of the Caribbean.
According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the review takes place when an important number of Cuban health professionals arrive in that country, who will work in the Modern Medical Center in Georgetown, along with their Vincentian colleagues.
The Permanent Secretary of Health, Welfare and Environment of San Vicente, Cuthbert Knights; the Cuban ambassador in Kinsgtown, Vilma Reyes, and the head of the Cuban medical brigade, Nelson Vicente Diaz, stand out among the officials who meticulously reviewed the text of the new bilateral cooperation agreement on health.
This document calls for adapting and optimizing the efforts of both nations in the expansion and improvement of medical services provided to the population in the public sector.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is the first country in the eastern Caribbean to treat the diabetic foot ulcer free of charge with the Cuban drug Heberprot-P, he added.
With an important medical center equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and an experienced group of Cuban specialists, 'there are many reasons for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to aspire to become a regional reference in the treatment of a group of pathologies', concludes the Foreign Ministry Cuban.
