It is announced the early opening of a first part with 35 beds, which will be later duplicated, so this center will become the largest of its kind in the headwaters municipality.
Even with these characteristics, the coverage of maternal homes is below the real need of capacities, explained Dr. Mayelín Formentín Zayas, deputy director of medical assistance at the Municipal Health Directorate.
"The municipality of Camagüey currently has four maternal homes with a capacity of 60 beds, and today we have them all occupied, in other words, an occupational index at 100%.
"We have 130 people admitted to their home, that some of them should be, undoubtly, in one of these homes, but because they do not have a capacity of beds they are not there today. Hence, the need to open this new installation in the shortest possible time. "
At the headquarters of Clodomira Acosta it is already the furniture of the rooms and common areas, it has been working on completing the medical equipment and the workers of the self-employed brigade "Pablo Marrero Campos" strive for the local to be ready for its use.
Premature birth is one of the main problems the Maternal Child Program faces today in Camagüey, with a total of 165 cases, a very high figure in which all the polyclinics of the provincial capital are reflected.
Hypertension in pregnant women is a major cause of this phenomenon, a situation that requires permanent medical attention in many cases.
The decrease of these risk indicators in pregnancy will be the greatest of the benefits of the new maternal home, Clodomira Acosta, which will soon open its doors to Camagüey pregnant women. (Cadenagramonte)
