The Guatemalan Ronny Contreras, president of the Latin American Association of Prehospital Care -Alaph-, highlighted the organization and discipline of the intensivist staff of our country by serving thousands of people affected by the same event.

He pointed out that the integration of Cuba to the Alaph will serve as scientific support and for advice among the member countries for the experience in solidary work in exceptional situations in different nations.

Contreras said that the organization he presides over has the premise of uniting the peoples of the region through research and protocols for better training of specialists.

He also valued the response capacity and results of the Cuban emergency system, "a reflection of the government's political will to guarantee excellence in health services," despite the scarce resources caused by the blockade imposed by the United States more than 60 years ago.

At the opening of the conclave, the ALaph delivered to Pedro Luis Véliz, president of the Cuban Society of the specialty, a recognition for the brilliant organization of URGRAV 2019. (RHC)
