Begins in Cuba The Encounter of Women Creators

Photo: PLPhoto: PLHavana, March 11.- With the aim of highlighting the musical work of relevant artists inside and outside of Cuba, the Encounter of Women Creators '' Ángel y Habanera '', organized by the Cuban singer-songwriter Liuba, begins today in this capital María Hevia.

Dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the foundation of Villa de San Cristóbal de la Habana, the program of the event includes concerts, tributes, exhibitions and an academic section, whose central axis will be the habaneras (instrumental vocal genre of urban origin that is defined by its melody of romantic lyrical character, with instrumental accompaniment).

The Dominican singer Diomary, who stands out for the update of the sonorous roots of her native soil and for her activism in defense of women's rights, will be in charge of one of the main proposals of the event, the tribute to her native land. Sonia Silvestre.

Also highlighted in the program of the meeting Ángel y Habanera, the screening of the documentary dedicated to the Cuban interpreter Teresita Fernández, produced and directed by Hevia and the concert of the Costa Rican singer-songwriter María Petriz.

Until March 17 will take place the activities planned in the days of the event, whose main headquarters are in the Sala Villena of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the House of the Americas and the National Museum of Fine Arts. (PL)
