The president began the trip the day before, accompanied by members of the councils of State and Ministers, by the company Laguna Blanca, in the municipality of Contramaestre, where they produce food, fruits, corn and coffee.
Díaz-Canel referred to the need to boost corn cultivation to levels similar to what is achieved in the country with rice and beans to reduce high import figures.
He also exhorted to increase the sowing of short-cycle crops, plan well the land fund, ensure the destination of each production, achieve productive linkages with tourism and stimulate export.
As he passed through the Sales community of Casanova, Díaz-Canel spoke with his villagers, and explained that during his visit he evaluated compliance with the indications of his previous visit in June 2018.
He also met with students of polytechnic education inserted in a citrus company and visited a nursery center, which considered a novel experience to produce shrimps for export.
Later, after touring a coffee processor, the president of the Councils of State and Ministers analyzed, together with their managers, the potential to increase production and add value to the exportable product.
Díaz-Canel and other government authorities thus begin the second cycle of visits of this type by the country to solve problems and check indications of the previous route. (PL)
