To assume the challenge with "firmness and intelligence to avoid isolation, without compromising on principles or positions," was the summons of the Cuban leader. In this, what we can do in the diplomatic, economic and communication fields plays a fundamental role.

Díaz-Canel shared reflections on aspects of international politics closely related to the region of Our America, where a colonialist and neoliberal capitalist strategy is evident that has once again turned to the Monroe Doctrine, in the midst of which the economic blockade has intensified against Cuba, especially in the financial field.

In this context, the role of the Minrex, protagonist of important battles in 2018 and in which the Cuban people have been represented, is key, he said. "Every time there is a diplomatic victory at the international level, people assume it with feeling, like a victory for the country."

In the current moments, he said, where people return to the time of confrontation and new dangers arise that need to be addressed, we urgently need to prepare ourselves more and more. In this context, this organization has been able to add the talent of the most experienced officials to the formation of a generation of young diplomats with a high sense and revolutionary commitment.

Among all we have to defend the legacy that in foreign affairs left us the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution and what it means -he emphasized-, with the commitment to develop an independent, anti-imperialist and counter-hegemonic foreign policy, where friendship stands out and international solidarity, security and world peace.

This generational change that is gradually transiting the country under the leadership of the Communist Party and its First Secretary, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, cannot deceive anyone that there will be a change in Cuba's foreign policy; "The foreign policy of the Cuban Revolution remains the same and will be, we must all contribute to that," he said.

He pointed out the need to continue working with Cuban emigration abroad, not only in the United States. Our Island has been formed "from immigration and miscegenation and we cannot ignore the many Cubans who live abroad proud and nostalgic for their Homeland." In this regard, he insisted that an immigration policy should be written that would allow everyone to contribute to the development and defense of the Homeland as far as everyone can. «We do not have to agree on everything, but we can join».

He pointed out the strong impact of the consular services that the agency provides, both in the resident population and those living abroad, which, he said, must maintain a constant increase in quality, good treatment and professionalism.

He also insisted on fundamental ideas that characterize the management of the Government and that should also prevail in the daily activities of the Ministry.

taking into account the important role that corresponds to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to accompany in the international political sphere the effort made by Cuba in the economic field, Diaz-Canel made reference to priority processes for the country as the search for greater efficiency in the investments; the need to promote productive linkages with foreign investment, exports, tourism and the non-state sector of the economy; know and manage all the possibilities of financing around the world; the defense of national production and a greater demand on the quality of services.

Finally, he described as critical the analysis made on Monday, where concrete proposals were made and connected with the reality we live. We have "a mature and revolutionary diplomacy, heir to the ideas of Martí, Fidel and Raúl, and we have important challenges ahead that we will face from the front line of combat." (Granma)
