After a recent meeting held in New York with the secretary general of the Federation of Cuban Women, Teresa Amarelle, Espinosa told Prensa Latina that it was an encouraging meeting because not all countries are experiencing that great moment that the Caribbean island is going through referred to the role of females.
The head of the General Assembly maintained that she knew the contents of the new Cuban constitution on the right of women to guarantee equality, care and social protection that is guaranteed to professionals and those in the labor market, their participation in the political spaces from the grassroots level to the highest management levels.
There is effervescence in Cuba of the participation of women. There are nations where there are setbacks not only in the political participation of women, in access to health services, in social protection networks, and it is good to know that Cuba is so advanced and is making progress in this regard.
On the other hand, the High Official of the United Nations indicated that she plans an official visit to the island soon.
María Fernanda Espinosa arrived in the capital yesterday to participate in the II High Level Conference of the United Nations on South-South Cooperation, in which presidents, chancellors and personalities from 193 countries will be present. (PL)
