Photo: GranmaHavana, May 14.- The Cuban people demand full compliance with what is endorsed in the new Magna Carta and in particular with the postulates that concern the activity of trade, since it mainstreams a large number of spheres of daily life.
This is how the secretary of the Council of State Homero Acosta Álvarez affirmed when intervening in the opening of the second Convention of Commerce, Cuba 2019, which began on Monday at the Havana Convention Center.
Acosta Alvarez stressed that despite the difficulties, the policy of the Revolution is to subsidize people, and in that sense he mentioned the effort that the State makes to guarantee the products of the regulated basic basket and distribute them throughout the country; in addition to other programs such as food through social assistance.
No less important, he said, is the activity of trade in sectors such as housing construction, where it is vital to guarantee the sale of construction materials as a way to facilitate the population's access to decent and dignified housing.
For the Constitution to be a reality, one of the fundamental aspects is consumer protection, defined in the constitutional text. "Mechanisms must be enforced to control and ensure the rights of consumers in all sectors and to allow people to claim and obtain a timely response. All at some point we are users of a service or consumers, "stressed the Secretary of the State Council.
"The Constitution is the course, the guideline by which we have to march to also achieve that the state company, in the first place, is able to be more efficient, and fully comply with the task of providing services to the population with quality" , affirmed Acosta Álvarez.
In the opinion of the Minister of Internal Commerce, Betsy Díaz Velázquez, the event - which brings together more than 400 Cuban delegates and about ten countries - is, in the current economic and political context, an ideal place to take advantage of good practices and experiences, in terms of finding better solutions to the problems that affect Cuban trade management today.
Greater development, apply science to management and sales processes, increase the quality of products and their design, achieve foreign investment opportunities that benefit, for example, the wholesale trade, are some of the challenges that this activity has in the country, said the owner. (Granma)
