Cuba and Vietnam strengthen economic and commercial relations

Photo: ACNHavana, May 21.- The bilateral interest in strengthening economic and commercial relations prevailed today during the meeting between Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of Popular Power (ANPP), and Phan Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the cordial meeting, Lazo Hernández stressed that there are areas, such as health, education and agriculture, in which cooperation is viable, and referred to the need to take commercial relations to the same level as the policies.
As part of his speech, he recalled that 2020 will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in which links between parties, governments and parliaments have been strengthened.
He thanked the support of the Asian nation in the votes cast in the United Nations for the elimination of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States to the largest of the Antilles for almost six decades.
Lazo Hernandez also commented to the invited delegation that the new Constitution put into force last April contains the fundamental points of Marxism and Leninism and establishes principles such as the defense of unity and the duties and rights of citizens.
In this regard, he pointed out that the deputies of the National Assembly will have a very strong job in the future, since in just over two years they will have to approve some 70 laws that respond to what is stipulated in the Magna Carta.
He also stated that nobody like the Vietnamese people knows the Americans, and that, despite the aggressions, Cuba will resist and defeat the common enemy.
Phan Binh Minh declared the intentions of his government to get closer to Cuba in economic matters and take relations to a new level.
He congratulated Cuba for its economic and social achievements, despite the strong economic blockade, and praised the way in which the ANPP maintains close relations with the people and with the government.
Pham Binh Min arrived in Cuba on Sunday night on an official visit, and as part of his program held a meeting with Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, and an agreement was signed on political consultations between the departments of both countries. (ACN)
