Diaz-Canel at the Business Fair in Expocuba

Foto: Juventud RebeldeHavana, May 28. - As a necessary and timely event, the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, called the 6th Business Fair of the economic actors that operate in the country, which ends on May 31 at Expocuba. The president toured several pavilions in the afternoon, where he appreciated various national offers and talked long and in detail with the exhibitors.
He highlighted the relevance of the event at this time, when they are permanent in the Government and in the visits to the territories of the Council of Ministers, the reflections on the development of the national economy, the increase of production and exports, the substitution of imports and the productive chains.
I have seen here "the potential of a quality national production, which can be competitive, that can substitute imports, that links several sectors of the national industry and that can become an invaluable source for export, and, therefore, of foreign currency income, "the Head of State told the press.
He stressed that the Fair is demonstrating, with the products and services it exhibits, that despite the levels of technological obsolescence of the national industry, that can be reversed if it is capable of undertaking new ventures with the same equipment, and with part of the income produced by such development, invest to improve technologies and increase production.
Díaz-Canel pointed out that the Fair is also a testament to the little that we sometimes know among ourselves. "Many things are seen here that certain entities do, and yet others are importing them”.
"If we knew each other more," he emphasized, "we could demand more from each other and support each other more." We have to definitively break the import mentality, which is often for convenience when managing, but also for not knowing each other sufficiently.
The President pointed out that in the tour through Expocuba, talking with the Minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil Fernández, and his first deputy minister, René Hernández Castellano, reflected that this problem cannot be left to the will, which must be resolved from the same planning of the economy.
"We have to do an uprising so that this Fair really gives us a way out of efficiency in the management of Government and in planning management," he added. "From the plan we have to start to see everything that Cuban companies and entities will need to develop next year, and what things can be done in the national industry."
The first thing is to prioritize everything that can be done from the national production, and leave the few resources we have to import what guarantees these developments -from indispensable raw materials- and what we are not able to do here with efficiency and competitiveness, exposed.
Almost at the end of his statements to the press, Díaz-Canel said that the 6th. Business Fair "is really stimulating, so stimulating that one leaves here dreaming, and then one wonders why dreams cannot come true".
School and new house
After the Expocuba tour, the President of the Councils of State and Ministers arrived at the Alfredo Miguel Aguayo Sánchez primary school in Santo Suárez, municipality of Diez de Octubre, where he participated with pioneers, teachers, relatives, neighbors of the community and builders, in the reopening of the center, severely damaged by the passing of the tornado on January 27.
Accompanied by the first secretary of the Party in the capital, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar; the president of the Provincial Assembly of the Popular Power, Reynaldo
García Zapata, and the Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, the president gave acknowledgments to the entities that worked in the rehabilitation of the site, and the Labor Proeza flag to the collectives of the Aguayo school and the residence for professors La Asunción, also ravaged by the tornado.
The pioneers thanked the recovery of their school in the voice of the girl Ana Laura Pérez, who pointed out that, as President Díaz-Canel had requested, she was more beautiful than before. The Head of State also toured the residence for professors La Asunción, next to the Maternity Hospital of Diez de Octubre (Daughters of Galicia), in Luyanó, in which he spoke with educators and observed the conditions of life that they have there.

The president always raises a lot of affection, but also some people take the opportunity to give him complaints. One lady lamented, for example, about the problems she has on the sidewalk of her house; another one of that the works in his home still do not advance.
Díaz-Canel listens, but also explains. The recovery of the damage caused by the tornado of January 27 has been exemplary, that anyone recognizes, but everything cannot be done at once. The Head of State, well, argued; some asked for trust, everyone thanked for the patience, because in Cuba, he told them, no one will be left helpless.
