According to the also principal researcher of the Central Institute of Pedagogical Sciences, this check -which will be applied in 251 teaching centers of 14 provinces selected by UNESCO- will contribute to improve the quality of education and will offer a scientific framework for the analysis of the achievements in compliance with the 2030 Education Agenda.
He noted that the country has the necessary technological resources (software, forms and documentation) to develop this exercise, and that the teaching groups that will represent the country in it, students of third and sixth grades of primary education, were determined in a random.
Torres Fernández explained that in the first days of May the instruments were printed, consisting of the Reading, Writing and Mathematics tests. For the sixth grade, there will also be a science exam and an innovation exam that assesses the development of socio-emotional skills. He added that associated questionnaires are also included for the teacher, the school principal and the father and mother of each child.
He commented that the ERCE is the fourth regional study, but in the Greater Antilles it is the third that is carried out with the technical assistance of the Llece. "The current one has the peculiarity, as well as the two that will continue in the years 2023 and 2028, to constitute a source of evidence of the achievements of each country in the area in fulfilling the 2030 Education Agenda."
Regarding the results of the first two studies, the expert said: "Cuba obtained the highest average scores among participating countries in all areas of the school curriculum and levels of education evaluated. Moreover, their averages were, as a rule, between one and a half units and two units of standard deviation of the regional average. " (Juventud Rebelde)
