Cuban President begins government visit to Holguin

Photo: ACNPhoto: ACNHolguín, May 30. - Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, president of the Councils of State and Ministers, today meant a tour of centers in the province of Holguin, the need to raise the quality and variety in the production of food intended both the population as to tourism from the means and resources available in each branch.

These details were underlined in particular by the president in meetings with workers and managers of the companies Láctea and Frutas Selectas of the city of Holguín, entities that he toured as part of the ministerial visit begun on Wednesday to the eastern territory.

When arriving at the center producing dairy products, Díaz-Canel Bermúdez was informed of the state of compliance of the main production lines, particularly those dedicated to the production of cheese, in the process of transformation to help raise the quality and delivery to destination to the population and the tourism sector, besides creating the bases to substitute imports, guarantee future exports and achieve the quality and safety of food.
 
In the same sense, he reflected with the collective of the Frutas Selectas min industry, about the importance of the initiatives to contribute with the Cuban diet as one of the Government's priorities.
 
Diaz-Canel Bermúdez began his work visit today in Holguín with an exchange at the Cañeras Combined Factory 60th anniversary of the October Revolution, known as KTP and inaugurated in July 1977 by the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz.

During the exchange with workers and managers of this plant, a leader in the mechanical industry, the president learned of the extensive programs in the rehabilitation of its main production lines and others for the preparation of equipment and means to support the extraction of construction materials.
From this installation the Cuban president moved to the Planta Heroes of July 26, near the KTP, where he also received extensive details about the production process and potential, both their technical means and the workforce to help increase the delivery of machinery and equipment to prioritized companies in the agricultural sector.
 
In the city of Holguín, where he covered the first part of the day in the comprehensive visit of the Council of Ministers to the eastern province, Díaz-Canel Bermudez also had a broad exchange with students and professors at the Oscar Lucero Moya University, center of notable contributions in the training of professionals from different branches and promoter of important scientific research programs.
