Salvador Valdés Mesa up to African nation of Ethiopia

Photo: GranmaAddis Ababa, May 30.- The first Cuban vice president Salvador Valdés Mesa arrived on Wednesday to the sister nation of Ethiopia, where he was received by the country's president, Sahlework Zewde, who had a cordial exchange with the Cuban delegation.
Previously, the Ethiopian chancellor, Gedu Andargachew, also greeted Valdés Mesa, meeting in which the historical position of mutual support was ratified and especially, in the struggle of the Cuban people against the blockade imposed by the United States Government on the Island.
In his account on the social network Twitter, the First Vice President also informed that he had a warm meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen.
In context:
- Cuba and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia are united by strong ties of friendship and cooperation, dating from March 1960, when they were established at the Legation level.
- The bilateral ties were strengthened in January 2018, with the visit to Cuba of the then President of the Republic, Hon. Mr. Mulatu Teshome Wirtu.
- At present, 27 collaborators in the health and education sectors work in Ethiopia and nine Ethiopian students are studying Medicine in our country.
- Between the two nations there is ample potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as biotechnology, agriculture and the production of medicines. (Granma)
