Granma newspaper highlights today that 276 mini-industries, aimed to the local production of building materials, to increase the number of these capacities in the 168 municipalities of the country, an effort that continues to raise in order to give to each popular council the constructive solutions for housing.
The president pointed out that, as a minimum, each municipality has to produce the elements that a house needs daily, the only way to increase the current construction rate and reach the figure of about 50,000 per year.
At the same time, he said, all agencies have to prepare to have constructive forces, because the plan for building housing through the state must also grow.
On the delivery of subsidies to families, Díaz-Canel considered that local governments have to pay more attention to it, because, as specified in the meeting, the materials are there, but they have to be better directed and controlled.
We have to break the bureaucracy in this sensitive issue, he said, and to watch over the care of resources because part of the illegalities in this issue lie in the diversion of materials that are intended for the most needy people.
The Cuban president also pronounced himself for taking care of the quality of what is done in the mini-industries. Even though some of the assortments are made through self-employed workers or cooperatives, the state has to set the rules and demand that the norms that are complied with.
He indicated to publish the results of the verifications that periodically the Ministry of Construction makes to each territory in the subject of the local production of materials to compel to a better work in the national press.
Also, the general director of Housing of the Ministry of Construction, Vivian Rodríguez Salazar, reported that as of September 17,531 houses had been completed and the provinces with the best results are Camagüey, Las Tunas, Granma, Santiago and Guantánamo at the check-up meeting.
She also said that from the entry of raw materials for the production of asbestos cement and zinc roofs, they are working to allocate the necessary quantities to ensure the solution to the total and partial effects of roofing in Pinar del Río, Artemisa, Mayabeque, Matanzas, Sancti Spíritus, Ciego de Ávila, Las Tunas, Holguín, Granma and the Isla de la Juventud for the remainder of the year.
