The Cuban ambassador Humberto Rivero was also against double standards, political selectivity, the unilateral acts of certain States to try to certify behaviors and develop lists politically motivated and contrary to international law.
Cuba, which was a victim for decades of state terrorism sponsored from abroad, condemns those practices and methods in all their forms and manifestations, whatever their motivations, he said.
The island government does not allow or permit the use of the territory for the realization, planning or financing of acts of terrorism against any other State, he added.
Likewise, Rivero reiterated the commitment of his country to the prevention and confrontation of terrorism, and to the various manifestations of transnational organized crime.
As he recalled, Cuba has committed to 18 international conventions on terrorism and has put into effect legislative, institutional, administrative and various measures to prevent and punish all those acts.
In fact, he added, it has a specific criminal norm for the confrontation of criminal acts of a terrorist nature, Law 93 against Acts of Terrorism, and a specific criminal legislation to typify the crimes of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.
At the international level, the ambassador stressed, it was recognized that the work of my country is substantially effective in these areas.
Similarly, with respect to the various manifestations of organized crime, Cuba has a policy of zero tolerance to the production, consumption and trafficking of drugs, and trafficking in persons.
Likewise, it works hard to prevent the national territory can be used as a deposit, storage, transit or destination of illicit drugs, he said.
Only in 2018, he explained, two thousand 438 kilograms of drugs were seized, most of them from maritime recalls caused by international drug trafficking operations that did not have the largest of the Antilles as a destination.
With regard to trafficking in persons, the island has a National Plan of Action for the Prevention and Confrontation of Trafficking in Persons and the Protection of Victims, and the incidence of that scourge is very low, he said.
The ambassador rejected the inclusion of Cuba in the worst category of the report on trafficking in persons of the US State Department, this 2019.
It is known that this unilateral report, without any legitimacy or international recognition, fulfills an objective of political manipulation, as a weapon of pressure against other states and without respect, consideration or attachment at all to international efforts to combat trafficking in persons.
In addition, the diplomat stressed, these defamatory campaigns seek to justify Washington's hostility to the island and the recent unilateral measures of economic blockade and coercion, aimed at damaging the population's standard of living, damaging the economy, the country's finances and the social services.
