The Asian giant is disturbed by the White House's plans to develop medium-range land missiles and, in particular, it’s possible placement in the Pacific basin. Therefore, Beijing urges South Korea, Japan and Australia not to allow the US deploy its medium-range missiles in their respective territories.
On the other hand, the Chinese Foreign Ministry says that Washington accuses Moscow of violating the Treaty on Medium and Short Range Missiles (INF) with the aim of abandoning said agreement and "holding hands free" for development of new weapons.
China expressed disagreement with the creation of a new structure to replace the INF treaty, claiming "a series of complex difficulties of a political, military and legal nature" and arguing that "it would have no weight."
Three days after the effective suspension of said agreement, the Pentagon announced its intention to develop "conventional land" missiles previously banned by the INF. Also, from Washington they said they would like to deploy "sooner rather than later" conventional missiles of intermediate range in the Asian continent, although they did not specify the location.
