Foreign Ministry spokesman, Geng Shuang, said his government is seriously concerned about the issue and opposes the ballistic test conducted today by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

He reiterated as the most viable option to get out of the crisis Beijing's proposal so Pyongyang suspends its nuclear and missile program to end the military exercises of South Korea and the United States.

According to Geng, China urged all parties involved to act with caution and work for regional peace and stability.

He also reiterated China's strong refusal to the military exercise raised by Washington against Pyongyang.

The DPRK confirmed today the launch of the Hwasong-15 intercontinental missile, it said it did not put the security of neighboring countries at risk and reiterated the self-defensive nature of its plan to develop ballistic and nuclear technology.

The test took place today at 02:48 local time, and this was a powerful and long-range missile capable of impacting the entire U.S. territory in case of aggression, an official statement said.

Pyongyang states that these projects are also the means to dissuade the United States and its allies in the area from provoking a new war.

After the previous test, the UN Security Council unanimously approved a resolution in September against North Korea for these activities.

However, the White House included the DPRK last week on the list of states sponsors of terrorism and then unilaterally imposed economic sanctions that even affect companies and individuals from third countries. (PL)
