Counties desperately need specialists. Cuban doctors will be in the country for a two-year contract, the official explained to journalists in the city of Nyeri (center).
She also asked the unions to stop politicizing 'a sincere and honest strategy' of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who traveled to Havana last week.
We are in talks with the governors to also incorporate doctors from the country who graduated last year, Kariuki added, to refute theories that the Caribbean people would occupy jobs in the detriment of Kenyans.
The secretary added that even if the counties recruited all local doctors, there would be too few to put the doctor-patient ratio at adequate levels.
During his visit to Cuba, Kenyatta asked for Cuba's support in sectors such as pharmaceutical industry, sports and culture. (Cadenagramonte)
