Venezuelan opposition must desist from violence, Atilio Borón

Foto: PLFoto: PLCaracas, Mar 19.- The Venezuelan opposition must desist from the violent strategy that causes so much damage to the population of the South American country today, said Argentine sociologist and political scientist Atilio Borón.

The analyst explained that the opposition deputy Juan Guaidó -recognized by the United States as president in charge of the nation- has created a fiction that aims to facilitate the collapse of the constitutional government of President Nicolás Maduro.

Borón blamed Washington for being the main culprit of an ongoing aggression, aimed at deposing the head of state, although none of the actions implemented to interrupt Maduro's mandate has worked, he said.

The US administration of Donald Trump has redoubled its hostility to Venezuela since January, through the recognition of an illegitimate government and the application of new sanctions, as well as the attempt to intervene under humanitarian pretexts and the sabotage of the national electricity system, according to reports from Caracas.

The Argentine sociologist pointed out that the aggression carried out by the US government did not achieve the expected results because the promoters of that policy underestimated the depth of the Bolivarian Revolution, according to Venezolana de Televisión.

In a recent article published on the Alainet.org website, Borón warned that "the fiasco" of the "humanitarian aid" operation on February 23 would intensify the aggressiveness of the White House through attacks and sabotage "to cause the greatest possible harm to the population. '

This strategy would be aimed at "unleashing ... a massive popular uprising against the government of Nicolás Maduro," said the scholar, pointing out the possible responsibility of the United States in the March 7 cyber attack against the Simón Bolívar hydroelectric plant. (El Guri), affecting 80 percent of the country.

'A crime against humanity; pure and hard terrorism meticulously planned and perpetrated by Washington, "said the political scientist, outlining the probable involvement of the US administration in the aggression against the national electricity system.

"Meanwhile, it would be good if the prosecution of the International Criminal Court initiated an investigation into the responsibility that falls to the US government in the commission of crimes against humanity such as those currently suffered by the people of Venezuela," the analyst concluded. South American. (PL)
