Such initiatives, with the unanimous support of the legislators, aim to mitigate what Washington considers a Russian-Venezuelan threat, limit Caracas' access to non-lethal weapons, and increase the supposed humanitarian aid to the South American country.

Each of the proposals, already directed to the Senate, was promoted in that order by Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Donna Shalala and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Democratic representatives of the southern state of Florida.

The first mentioned project urges the State Department to study and present to the North American Congress measures in order to limit the military cooperation between Venezuela and Russia.

For its part, the second norm prohibits the sale to the South American nation of tear gas, rubber balls or other material against riots, and extends the impediment to trade weapons in force since 2006.

Finally, the latest legislation provides 150 million dollars for the alleged aid in 2020 and 2021.

Repeatedly, the Venezuelan Government has denounced the destabilizing actions of the United States to promote ignorance of the legitimate and democratic institutions of the Latin American country in an attempted coup d'état.

On Monday, the Venezuelan Minister of Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, explained that a new attack was carried out on the National Electric System, at the Simón Bolívar Hydroelectric Power Plant, located at the El Guri dam, Bolívar state.

During a press conference at the Miraflores Palace, headquarters of the Executive, the owner said that in most of the national territory and energy generation has been restored, and work to recover one hundred percent of the load distribution system, the main area damaged

He stressed that the intention of the right is to attack, attack and generate anxiety in the population to come to power through violence, and thus steal all resources belonging to Venezuelans.

In the opinion of the authorities, this sabotage adds to the actions of the opposition with the support of the US government to affect the basic services of the citizenry and create internal chaos that justifies a military intervention. (PL)
