Venezuelan Prosecutor investigates death of five people during failed coup d'état

Photo: RHCCaracas, May 7.- The Public Ministry (MP-Prosecutor) of Venezuela reported Monday that there were five deaths and 233 detainees after the attempted coup on April 30. "All these cases are being investigated and will have definitive conclusions," Attorney General Tarek William Saab said during an interview on local channel VTV.
There are 18 arrest warrants for civilians and military, which include sergeants who pleaded with the defaulted deputy Juan Guaidó and the fugitive Leopoldo López, promoters of the failed coup d'état.
Saab said that the promoters of violence will be prosecuted and justice will be done in all cases of deaths and other irregular events.
The prosecutor added that the corresponding actions will be undertaken to investigate the role assumed by ex-officio "parliamentarians and some officers with the rank of lieutenant-colonel to act outside the law."
