Cuba and China united in the defense of multilateralism

Foto: GranmaBeijing, May 30.- The defense of multilateralism and the rejection of unilateral coercive measures against our countries focused the attention of the talks held this Wednesday by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, and the member of the Political Bureau and director of the Office of the Central Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China, Yang Jiechi, about the official visit made by the head of Cuban diplomacy to the Asian nation.
Rodriguez Parrilla also met with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, meeting in which they highlighted the sustained exchange of high-level visits in line with the excellent state of relations, especially the state visit by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, last November, which reflected the continuity in bilateral ties and allowed to project them in the medium and long terms.
The Cuban Foreign Minister updated his Chinese counterpart on the main processes in which the island is immersed and thanked the invariable position of the Asian government against the blockade imposed by EE. UU He also stressed that Cuba welcomes with sympathy the initiative of the Strip and the Silk Road and its extension to Latin America and the Caribbean.
For his part, the also State Councilor, Wang Yi, reiterated the support of his country in the just struggle for the defense of national sovereignty and described as indestructible the close friendship between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, both foreign ministers signed the Political Consultation Plan between the respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs for the period 2020-2022. (Granma)
