The president of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, tweeted that Tuesday's meeting will be broadcast live on the Internet, in response to criticism from several political groups about the preliminary plans to hold it in camera.
Zuckerberg must explain to the president and the leaders of the EP groups how the data of millions of users of the social network ended up in the hands of a political consultant.
In March The New York Times and The Observer denounced that the British consultancy Cambridge Analytica (CA) obtained in 2014 personal information from millions of Internet users to influence processes such as the presidential elections in the United States and the referendum on the the United Kingdom´s exit of the regional block.
Then, Facebook acknowledged that the number of affected users amounts to about 87 million people and reiterated in several scenarios their apologies for violating the protection of personal data.
The meeting on Tuesday takes place on the verge of the entry into force on May 25 of the General Regulation of Data Protection of the European Union, which establishes a new global standard to guarantee the privacy of consumer information.
After the meeting, Tajani will offer a press conference at the headquarters of the European Parliament, which will also be broadcast live over the Internet, according to information disclosed on the PE page. (Cadenagramonte)
