Hundreds of artists ready their works for the XIII Biennial of Havana

Photo: PLHavana, March 26.- In order to improve the production schemes of art with creations that promote change and the enrichment of culture, hundreds of artists are currently preparing their works for presentation at the XIII Biennial of Havana.
The event, to be held from April 12 to May 12, is held since 1984, organized by the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, the National Council of Plastic Arts, the Ministry of Culture and other institutions of the island.
Artists, curators, specialists and diverse art and culture professionals from more than 50 countries will gather at this event, which enjoys high prestige in Latin America, the Caribbean and the world for the ability to enhance the transcendence of architecture and the design in the environment of the cities at present.
For the first time, the Biennial will extend its extension outside the Cuban capital to reach provinces such as Matanzas and the Intermittent Rivers project, to Cienfuegos with the Mar Adentro initiative, Pinar del Río and the school-project-exhibition Pharmacy and the International Video Art Festival of Camagüey which arrives to its eighth edition.
According to the organizers of the meeting, a route of ideas and places was created from emblematic places in Havana to draw up a cultural map that makes it possible to experience art in every corner.
In this regard, institutions such as the Wifredo Lam centers and the Visual Arts Development Center, the Fototeca de Cuba, the extensive circuit of museum houses, galleries and cultural centers of the Havana Historian's Office, the Intersections Project, stand out in the list. in Factoría Habana and the National Museum of Fine Arts.
Prominent intellectuals will also discuss different topics related to contemporary art as their social dimension in the construction of alternative models to the cultural-hegemonic discourse; its sustainability, principles, experiences and projections.
Under the title The construction of the possible, the XIII edition of the meeting will have the presence in the curatorial list of nine national prizes of Arts Pláticas in Cuba like Manuel Mendive, Roberto Fabelo, René Francisco Rodríguez, José Manuel Fors, José Villa Soberón, Pedro de Oraá, Pedro Pablo Oliva, Eduardo Ponjuán and José A. Toirac.
The map of the biennial is made up of dozens of kilometers where the Calle Línea Cultural Corridor stands out, under the initiative of urban agglutination of the Espacios Project, as well as the proposal of Conversation between two trains of the Australian Contemporary Art Exhibition, projected by the RMIT University in Melbourne.
