Lima, Nov. 12 - A tribute to Cuban historical leader Fidel Castro, one year after his departure, stands out in the program of the XVII National Solidarity Meeting with Cuba, scheduled in the Peruvian capital from November 24 to 26.
The appointment acquires special significance because it coincides with the first anniversary of Fidel's physical disappearance, "a great and world leader, an example of dignity, solidarity and internationalism, champion of the struggle against imperialism and neoliberalism," says the event. .
All the friends of Cuba, the Friendship Houses of Peru-Cuba, the National Coordinator of Youths, the Association of Professionals graduated in Cuba and various political and social organizations were summoned to the meeting.
The appeal states that the meeting will deal with the commitment to give full support to the reconstruction of the areas of the largest Antillean island affected by hurricanes recently, reciprocally with the historic Cuban solidarity with Peru.
The agenda of the solidarity meeting deals with the challenges and priorities of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba, its strengthening and expansion, and support for the Island.
This action, indicates the call, must respond to the resurgence of the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States and the media and subversive campaigns against the Cuban revolution and must also be expressed in the struggle for the recovery of the territory of Guantanamo occupied by Washington.
Likewise, it will be about solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution of Venezuela and the strategies to face the attacks to the progressive processes of the region, like those of Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua, and the need to contribute to create an Anti-imperialist Front in Latin America.
