Havana, Jan 21.- President Miguel Diaz-Canel evoked the thought of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, some few days after the 1959 victory, during ''Operation Truth'', in which the firmness of the process was confirmed.
'Those who believed that, ... sowing lies and slander everywhere were going to weaken our Revolution, they would discredit our people, ... they were wrong, because the Revolution is currently firmer' #Fidel, 21/01/1959 #SomosCuba #YoVotoSi #SomosContinuidad,' Diaz-Canel posted on his Twitter account @DiazCanelB.
Operation Truth was a meeting of 400 foreign journalists in Havana, when the Revolution was 20 days old, so that they could have first-hand information about the trials of criminals of war from the overthrown dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, amid a fierce camapign of lies about that process.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of 'Operation Truth' and also address issues related to the challenges of Latin American journalism, an international forum sponsored by the Latin American News Agency, Prensa Latina, is being held in Havana on Monday.
At this two-day forum, professionals from the sector in the region and other parts of the world will seek answers to the challenge posed by the need to exercise journalism committed to truth and common good of the peoples. (PL)
