As part of the activities organized by the Health Directorate in Sierra de Cubitas, in greeting to the International Day of Nursing, the scientific day of that specialty was held at the Policlínico 13 de Marzo of this northern territory, standing out for its relevance and contribution a total of four papers, which were selected for the Science and Technology Forum.

Among the novelties of the event was the presentation of the paper: Proposal of activities to improve the quality of life of infants diagnosed with valved meconium ileus, with the authorship of the Nursing Graduates Mireya Rodríguez Maceo and Luisa María García Fonseca.

These women with extensive experience linked to the work of the Doctor's Offices and the Family Nurse in different popular councils of the municipality, decided to deepen the study of the case taking into account that it is the first occasion that an infant with this condition is diagnosed, hence the need to design a proposal of activities on the scientific basis with the aim of ensuring the quality of life of the patient and generalize it, if necessary, to other health areas.

In statements to the press, Rodríguez Maceo pointed out that it was difficult for her to carry out the work, it demanded a maximum of study on an individual basis, taking into account that it´s an unusual diagnosis in this area.

For García Fonseca, meanwhile, the design acquires extraordinary value because with the concretion of each one of the proposed activities they contribute to improve the quality of life of the infant.

Both coincide in the dedication of their work to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the main promoter of scientific development in the Greater Antilles.
