Damascus, July 3 - Syria will not make any concessions to the new coercive measures applied by the United States against the country, Syrian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal Mekdad said in the capital today.
"The sanctions imposed by Washington against the Syrian people are inhuman and constitute a war crime, and Damascus will not make any concessions," the deputy foreign minister told reporters after meeting with Ali Asghar Khaji, the Iranian foreign minister's chief adviser political issues.
In his commentary on the recent Israeli bombing of Syria, he warned that Damascus could change the form of its response in the event of repeated Israeli aggressions against the territory of this Arab nation.
"The region needs calm and not escalation, and the Security Council and the United Nations must be aware of the danger of such aggressions because Syria could respond and their response is a legitimate right," he explained.
The Syrian army, according to Mekdad, is fighting the Israeli tools represented by the terrorist organizations that are being defeated at the hands of the Syrian forces.
With regard to the situation of Idleb, the diplomat emphasized that the anti-terrorist operation in that northern province continues under a precise plan aimed at eradicating terrorism completely. (PL)
